HELPFUL HINTS

When you are ready to purchase materials for your project, some things to keep in mind are:

1.    Do I have positive drainage from my house around my foundation so when it rains, water flows AWAY from my home?  Maybe I should get some pulverized topsoil before I start this project.

2.    I won't be messing with weeds all summer because I put BLACK (not clear) 4 ml thick plastic or weed fabric under my rock to keep the weeds out.  BLACK plastic (not clear) can be found in the paint dept or insulation area at Lowes, Home Depot, or Wal-Mart - NOT in the lawn & garden area.  If you prefer weed fabric, we sell it at reduced prices compared to our competitors.

3.  I need to know how much dirt or rock I need; so I should get some measurements.  I will measure the length, width, and depth of my project so I know exactly how much material I need

4.  When I'm ready to start my project, I will call or text Steve at 816-863-8204 to schedule a delivery or Dave at 816-739-8733 to set up a time for him to load me.

5.   If I have my material delivered, I'm sure it would be appreciated if I figured out where I want it dumped before they get to my house.  If I need to move cars out of my driveway or want to lay a tarp down, I'll do that ahead of time.  I'm going to watch for them to get to my house so I can come out and show them exactly where I want it dumped so they don't have to climb in and out of the dump truck.  They would probably get sore if they had to do that at every house they went to each day

Our "scoop" is a one cubic yard bobcat bucket.  We have a scale on our bucket that allows us to weigh the rock within 3% degree of accuracy.

*  1” rock gets about 100 sq ft of coverage at 1 layer thick per ton

*  2” rock gets about 80 sq ft of coverage at 1 layer thick per ton

*  3” rock gets about 60 sq ft of coverage at 1 layer thick per ton

*  3x6” cobbles get about 40 sq ft of coverage at 1 layer thick per ton

*  Dirt and compost get about 100 sq ft of coverage at 1 1/2” thick per cubic yard
